Kinsale Atlantic Dry Mead (12% ABV) is a delicious, off-dry traditional style mead, beautifully crisp with a lovely citrus honey flavour. Best enjoyed chilled or over ice as a pre-dinner drink.

As seen on celebrity chef, John Torode’s Ireland on the Food Network. It has lovely floral aromas and a long, lingering hint of honey with almost no sweetness; a perfect food pairing with salty appetisers such as olives, salted nuts or seafood. Or try pairing it with a lemon tart or buttermilk panna cotta.

Refreshingly different and definitely intriguing, it’s a great introduction to traditional style meads. Kinsale Atlantic Dry Mead has been re-invented and  re-imagined from its ancient form and fermented at our meadery in Kinsale with carefully sourced pure orange blossom honey from the verdant orange groves of southern Spain. A popular choice or gift for whiskey drinkers and honey lovers.

It certainly has the judges jumping off their chairs with numerous awards to date including the UK Great Taste Award 2 Star (outstanding), Silver Blas na hEireann (Irish Food Awards), Gold medal at International Mazer Cup, Gold at the Free From Food Awards and Gold at the European Mead Madness Cup.

And of course, since it’s made with pure honey,  it’s Naturally Gluten Free.

I can smell some fresh green olives and white flowers, in Italy we would call it “glicine.” There’s a underlying saltiness to the taste that’s very pleasant (Giovanni, Italy)

Storage

Store the bottles similar to wine, upright in a cool place away from direct sunlight and they should keep for at least two years.

Once opened, store the bottles upright in the fridge. If you have one of those vacuum pump wine bottle closures that pump out the oxygen, all the better. After that the flavour starts to change a little as the air gets to it. Good to drink still or use in cocktails or cooking.

The Atlantic Dry Mead starts to change in flavour after 7 days.

Mead Food Pairing

Lovely with salty snacks such as olives, roasted nuts, seafood or artisan crisps. Try poaching scallops with a creamy mead sauce or try it with chicken in black bean sauce.. For desserts, it’s lovely raspberry and white chocolate sponge, poached fruit such as plums or nectarines or goats cheese.

Dit is een heerlijke traditionele mede bestaande uit Spaanse oranjebloesemhoning en lokaal water, gefermenteerd en gerijpt om te eindigen op 12% ABV en lichtzoet met een charmant bloemig, citroen aroma, een lange hint van honing en bijna ongezoet. Serveer gekoeld of met ijs. We vragen ons af of de zoute lucht van de wilde Atlantische Oceaan na verloop van tijd zijn eigen smaken zal toevoegen.

Este es un delicioso mead tradicional, hecho con miel de azahar española cruda de Valencia y agua local de Inishannon, fermentada y madurada para terminar con un 12% de ABV y seca con un aroma floral, cítrico, un largo y persistente toque de miel y casi sin dulzura . Servir frío o con hielo. Nos preguntamos si con el tiempo el aire salado del Atlántico salvaje agregará sus propios sabores únicos.

Italiano

Si tratta di un delizioso idromele tradizionale, a base di miele di Zagara spagnolo originario di Valencia e acqua locale di Innishannon, fermentato e invecchiato fino al raggiungimento dei 12% di ABV (Alcohol By Volume), risulta secco con un bel aroma floreale e agrumato, con un intenso sentore di miele ma privo di dolcezza. Servire freddo o con ghiaccio.

Chissà se con il tempo l’aria salmastra dell’Atlantico selvaggio lo arricchirà dei suoi sapori unici.
