Kinsale Hazy Summer Mead – light & fruity berries
Kinsale Hazy Summer Mead (11% ABV) is a fabulous, fruity, off-dry berry mead with generous strawberry and raspberry aromas, a lovely burst of summer berries and a smooth, subtle honey finish.
Perfect served lightly chilled on its own or in a sharing jug with ice and frozen berries. Like a glass of summer in any weather. This deliciously light and fruity melomel mead is a perfect alternative to a light red or rosé wine. It is fermented from pure honey muddled with a tumble of ripe summer berries with almost no sweetness. Popular with cocktail mixers and beer and gin drinkers.
It pairs beautifully with spicy chicken wings, light curries or salads or try with honey glazed ham. For dessert try berry cheesecake or pavlova.
Like Kinsale Mead Co’s other meads, Hazy Summer Mead is made at Ireland’s first meadery in 200 years in the historic and food-loving town of Kinsale on the Wild Atlantic Way in West Cork.
The awards came in fast for this intriguing re-imagining of an ancient drink and it has won Gold at Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards and Gold at the International Mazer Cup.
Naturally Gluten Free. Low in sulfites. 70cl bottle
Generous fruit character and a zingy off-dry finish, enjoy like a light wine with charcuterie or salted cheese. – (Aoife Carrigy – Irish Independent)
My favourite one… So delicate, light and very fruity, thank you Kinsale Mead Co. (Risha V.)
It’s beautiful! Perfect on its own or in lots of different cocktails! Also great with prosecco for a summery party drink (Sinéad S.)
My new favourite cocktail ingredient- absolutely gorgeous! (Beth W.)
Just cracked bottle of Hazy Summer and it’s delish! (Daithí O.)
This smells like a red wine called Malvasia. If I didn’t know and had to guess from the smell. After a while the cherries pop, It becomes richer. Nice bitter finish. I would have this with polpo a la galiciana, the Spanish octopus dish, slightly spicy with chorizo and a little chili and lots of olive oil (Giovanni, Italy)
