Negronis famously have a ratio of 1:1:1 so it’s beautifully balanced and easy to remember. We have a few tips so you can make the perfect Mead Negroni cocktail at home.
This delicious Wild Mead Negroni was first made by the lovely inventive people at Brickyard D16 They recommend using a Modern Botanical Gin such as the delicious Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin.
Ingredients
25ml Kinsale Wild Red Mead
25ml Modern Botanical Gin
25ml Sweet Red Vermouth
Orange zest to garnish
Method
1. Fill a short rocks glass with ice and pour in the ingredients
2. Stir gently until the drink is well chilled
3. Garnish with a twist of orange zest and enjoy!
Kinsale Mead Co Tip: Negronis should always be gently stirred, not shaken. This brings the temperature down and creates a smooth drinking experience, allowing the trinity of fruitiness, sweetness and botanical aromatics to balance and shine. If shaken, the drink will become too cold and the flavours and delicate nuances that are so enjoyable, will be lost.
If you want to finish with a flourish, twist or bend the orange peel so that a light cloud of orange oils float over the surface of the drink which makes a fantastic addition the the experience. Resist the temptation to rub the peel on the edge of the glass. The peel retains some of the more bitter oils and will unbalance the drink.
And we all need a bit of balance now!
